Pesticide Applicator Certification and Recertification
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) requires certification for all commercial pesticide applicators. Applicators may achieve certification by passing both an examination and a 30-hour course such as Preparation for the Pesticide Applicator Certification Exam–HRT 357 offered at the Garden, usually each fall, and passing a State-administered examination. Applicators must periodically apply for recertification and must complete a number of courses that the DEC and the New Jersey State Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) have approved for recertification credit. Other courses also offer recertification credits for NYS-DEC and NJ-DEP. Look for the notation Pesticide Applicator Recertification credits.
